about

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME THAT YOU READ THIS!

This is NOT your regular garden variety album.

This is another project in my attempt to fuse unlikely genres. I like doing that because it makes for fresh and interesting music and sets me up for the chance to try new things.

This album began in my frustration of having all of the beats I like on my computer that are unused. Many of you know that I love (and sing) opera and Hip Hop, and I always thought it was a good Idea to blend the two styles. I have a whole folder of like a hundred "Opera Beats" that I made for cats to rhyme on. Sadly, little to none of those rappers really knew what to do over screaming opera vocals, so very few of them were purchased (It could be very likely that I just played this stuff for the wrong cats...?) Well regardless, they have been sitting on my proverbial shelf for years and in early '09, I decided to do something with them. So I picked many of my favorites and in one week, I wrote songs to them and recorded the vocals, blending a Hip-Hop and Soul vocal style for delivery.

The song concepts are mostly unrelated to my personal life, this is due to the fact that I was writing full from the inspiration of the tracks on conscious and sub-conscious levels. For example, the tracks sampled music from scenes in different operas, often using a vocal line with words in Italian or French etc... so I wrote songs that either updated the opera's scene to modern times (Fight!!!, Conceit & Sneakers), or flipped the generality of what the vocals were saying in that language to something I could write a song about (Asuto, Piangi, Maledelizione), or simply retold the opera story as it is (La Commedia E Finita).

You will find that many of the titles are in other languages as well... this is mostly from the operas, or something the singer is saying, and if you know someone that knows Italian, German or French, you can ask them what it means, or I guess you can put it in google translate.

Enjoy, and hit me up on facebook with any thoughts and/or comments.

Also... I know we live in a very fast paced society now a days, but it is very important to me, if you choose to down load something here... please download the whole album! I have worked in painstaking detail to fit these songs together with the right timing, musical interludes, and movie clips to keep this project as cohesive as possible, so it is to your benefit, if you like something from this project, to listen to the whole thing in the right order. Otherwise there may be something at the end of the one or two songs you download that may not make sense. Besides, it costs you nothing!

Thank you!
